He may have only turned 17 a few months ago, but this player has shown himself to be a real up and coming star, scoring tries, playing a variety of positions and fitting in seamlessly with the SCOB mentality – the 2022 Swindon College Old Boys Young player of the year award goes to Dan McDermott.

Now to the other end of the age scale - This award goes to a man so old, that there’s a real chance some of the younger SCOB players are his grandchildren. This award goes to a player who has had a huge impact on the club since joining at the start of the season, his constant work rate, speed, and desire to win has made him a standout player this season. It gives great pleasure to announce that Best Newcomer for the 21/22 season is Jay Thomson

Next is player who switched position at the start of the season – and then made that shirt his own. He’s impressed everyone with his mindset and how swiftly he’s picked up the “Dark Arts” of front row play – the most improved player 2022 is JP

The Phill Tyler Award for Clubman of the Year
The next award is a new award this year – for many of the younger players, you’ll have never met Phill – however he had a huge amount of love for, and a long association with the club. He was the fixture sectary for as long as I can remember, and even continued this role after moving back to Wales. He was a kind gentle man, with a heart of gold – unfortunately during lockdown he had a fall and hit his head, this resulted in his very untimely death.
The clubman of the year award is dedicated to Phills memory, voted for by you, the players – The inaugural Phill Tyler Award for Clubman of the Year couldn’t be going to a more deserving winner. He is someone who has lived a breathed SCOB for over 10 years, he is a leader on and off the field, if you cut him, he bleeds er red. Your captain and mine – Mr Gareth Davis

The one everybody wants to win, the Biggy – the SCOB 21/22 Player’s player award, this goes to someone who leaves his all out on the pitch, a titan in defence, a puma in attack (and by that, I mean he has no hands) – but if he did he’d wear nail varnish – the one, the only - Mr JP Patmore!
